Signup and Usage

Signing up with Shipito is a piece of cake. You get two address with the free plan and three addresses with the paid one. One of the most appealing things about Shipito is its 45 days free storage available in the paid plan. Shipito is also very affordable international forwarding service keeping in mind their paid services cost between $1 – $5. Even their premium Virtual Mailbox plan comes at a low price if you pay annually.The only thing you will pay for if you opt for their free plan is shipping cost plus the processing fee of $2. Unless of course, you decide to upgrade to the Virtual Mailbox.The Virtual Mailbox comes with its own host of benefits. For one, you can store multiple boxes in the warehouse (on Individual plan you are limited to receiving only 1 box). Virtual Mailbox also gives you the ability to consolidate your packages to save on shipping.Virtual Mailbox will cost you $4.16/Month (if you select Annual plan), which is actually a lot cheaper than other parcel forwarding services. You also don’t have to pay upon signup for Virtual Mailbox which we found to be very generous. You begin paying when your first shipment is ready.We tested the paid plan with Shipito and each package that came into our suite was notified via email and when we logged in, Shipito had already taken 2 free pictures (one for the package and another of the shipping label up close).Once all the packages arrived, we started the consolidation process. This is charged at $3, so for 6 packages, the cost was $18. Repackaging is free. Shipito has three kinds of consolidation;

  • A. Keep Outside Box – Consolidate the box as received.
  • B. Keep Retail Packaging – Outside box is thrown away, original product box stays.
  • C. Product Only – Original product box is thrown away, only products are packed.

We picked ‘Product Only‘ which gave us the benefit of having tonnes of stuff boxed into 1 package. Retail packing wasn't important since none of the items were a gift. Here users, also benefit from free visual inspection for damages service, and can choose to get free pictures of consolidation. This saves money on pictures and repackaging which other services usually charge for.Once consolidation is complete, you can select your shipping speed from the list of shippers and pay for services + shipment. Once the package is shipped, you will get notified via email.Shipito’s customer service is very fast and friendly. On the live chat, they quickly responded and offered helpful responses to my questions. I threw many questions at them for which I knew the answer but I wanted to check their level of intelligence. They passed in 8 out of 10 instances.

Verdict

Shipito gives you two USA addresses and one European address, allowing for a breezy shopping experience you wish for and of course, shipping to nearly anywhere in the world. If you are an experienced shopper then the free plan is enough to cater to your needs. Shipito just needs to add DDP to their list of services to become ‘the perfect’ forwarding solution.

    Avoid Shipito at all costs.

    Look around in reddit and online, they’re very well known for screwing their customers. When things go wrong you can expect 0 support and to never see a dime again, even when you buy their insurance which is a another scheme to ripoff customers.

    Plenty of stories in reddit from packages they lost in their warehouse, damaged packages when they opened them, and as far as I can see online they ZERO reviews or feedback regarding Shipito resolving ANY issue. Either things go right and you get your things, or you lose them and it’s not their problem.

    I’ve personally lost USD700+ which was insured but they never paid out after months of waiting. They shipped with USPS Priority Mail Express (insured and tracked, shipping and insurance were an exorbitant USD 109.20) and got stuck without updates in a third country for months to never be seen again. The estimate was 5-12 days. My order number was SHIPITOIN6858616.

    They shifted the blame onto USPS describing as them being required for the carrier to consider the package lost in order for them to pay the insurance claim.

    Not just that, but they also require them to complete a 90 day investigation and a Missing Mail Search Request which also takes up to 90 days. None of this is disclosed anywhere, only that insurance is covered BY Shipito and some general time lines and restrictions. They even highlight how great it is because *Shipito covers you so you don’t have to deal with the carriers.*

    They dropped the ball multiple times causing weeks delays by pure negligence on their behalf pushing me to open dispute with the payment processor and pissing me enough to make it a personal goal of mine to go on the web and expose their shit business.

    Their terms discloses that they’re only liable to the handling fee (without shippingI fees) for any lost packages/damages. The handling fee is USD 3.25. So that’s the maximum they’re liable for, as per them regardless of the package value.

    Thank me later, avoid this cancer of a business.

    If you’ve fallen victim to them, file a chargeback and cut your losses. At least you’ll get the exorbitant amounts back that they charged for their services.

    Our parcel was delivered to the Shipito warehouse at the end of May (confirmed by tracking) and a few days later was not on the system. We raised the concern and was asked to provide confirmation delivery and address which we did. Then we were asked to provide proof of the actual purchase (red flags raised here, however we provided all information they asked for). Then a week later they advised that they advised that the tracking stated ‘refused, returned to sender’. We were confused as to why it was accepted and then returned. We contacted our supplier who advised that the parcel had been returned… however it had been opened, emptied and retaped. The only thing returned to the supplier was an empty container! The item we were waiting on was the only one we could find to complete a vehicle restoration and therefore holds up the entire job! Please learn from our lesson and avoid this thieving company at all costs!!!
