Signup and Usage

As mentioned above already, MyUS service comes with a signup fee. Once you have completed the registration process, you will get your Florida address in USA with a tax-free zip code so you can start getting your stuff shipped there.


MyUS pride themselves in personalised customer experience. The reps are very helpful, and everything that you ask them to do is done accurately. The dashboard is a thing of beauty; not only is it glitch-free, its stress-free as well. All the special requests that you may want to order are stacked under a drop-down menu located in a non-intrusive spot.

There are lots of nifty requests you can send towards MyUS staff. I had three packages coming in, and once I received the email notifications about them, I logged into MyUS account and filled in the prices for each item in those packages. I’m assuming that I had to fill in the prices myself because the invoices were not clear for some reason.

I ordered images on the spot because I wanted to see what conditioned my stuff had arrived in. The pictures were clear and to date can still be viewed in the History section of my account. I also ordered an inspection of one package, and within 30 minutes I had the result from the person handling my consolidation. Super fast, no?

The only extra services I chose to apply for my shipment were insurance, extra padding and yes urgent handling because I wanted my shipment to get processed within an hour, which to my utter joy was taken care of within 20 minutes.

If you think that the speed probably came at the cost of haphazard packaging, then no. My stuff was packed with care, precision and even a personal touch. I was very pleased. Already the idea of stuff arriving from the USA is a joy on its own, but getting stuff packed with a personal touch is a real high.

MyUS has an iOS app as well as an Android app. I find this to be super cool because you can do a lot with them. In fact to detail it further, you can manage packages, create shipment with one-click, change account settings, upload invoice screen-grabs and create requests for the personal shopper. Opt to get push notifications, and you will get notified every time there is an update regarding your package. I call that a sweet perk!

A few other nifty bonuses for using MyUS:

– Acceptance of Mail/Letters into ‘Premium + Mail’ account.
– You can choose your very own native currency for payments in the account section and not keep it as the usual USD, GBP or EUR. Your account, your currency! See what I mean about MyUS being a personalised forwarding experience?!
– Refer-A-Friend program which gives you $10 and your friend $10 at signup. You don’t have to wait for your friend to make that first shipment, the $10 is yours as soon as the signup is successfully through.
– A reward program (to be launched soon), enables you to collect points (from shopping, shipping, referring friends, participating in social media and filling surveys, etc.) which you can redeem towards usable credit for your future shipping needs.


To be brutally honest, MyUS bends towards the expensive end.

Let’s take it from the top, the signup and monthly fee aren’t exactly cheap. The shipping rates aren’t exactly low. This could be attributed to the TruePricing structure which is exclusive to MyUS, or it could be because FedEx and UPS, the only other two options of shippers are expensive on their own. They claim to be partners with USPS as well, yet I saw no option to pick their shipping service when I was ready to select a shipper. There is also no option for USPS in my account’s setting section. So maybe they are not a partner for USPS, yet.

Speaking of picking their service… once you have access to your dashboard, make sure you select the option to “HOLD” packages otherwise by default MyUS ships off your stuff as is. You have some options for ‘Merchandise shipping schedule’ such as weekly, automatic, monthly and more.

Another downside to MyUS is the number of free storage days. You get just five days if you opt for their Basic plan and I can understand why someone would pick Basic, to avoid the monthly fee? But keeping the fee aside, the free storage days for paid accounts are also just 30. We have forwarders offering 60, 90 and even 180 days of free storage, so 30 is a bit low but 5; that’s just extremely low.

The paid services for MyUS are many (which goes against them), but the best part about it is that they are upfront about it. I do know that apart from paid services mentioned above they can add a charge if you have an item that contains a battery and that is just one sneaky charge that I know of.

MyUS does not allow you to edit cost/price of items. If you are in the habit of showing a different value on paper in hope for a lower customs fee, then look elsewhere.


By the looks of cons I have mentioned, you could be swayed not to opt for MyUS. But that could be a mistake. MyUS is a very personalised forwarding solution. Some points to keep in mind; they have excellent reviews (overall) by users, their TruePrice Shipping formula removes the tension out of the shipping quote, the account dashboard is one of the best I have come across, and lastly, their reps are intelligent and swift. Yes… they are expensive compared to other forwarding address services but to maintain a standard, I guess they have to charge accordingly. Remember to read their FAQ carefully before signing up.
